LINK Refugee Reading Program

Refugee children starting elementary school in America face all the normal challenges of children beginning school—a new schedule, new friends, and new things to learn. On top of those things, refugees must also adjust to a new culture and a new language.

We run a literacy class for preschool age (3-5 year olds) refugee children and their parents that teaches them to read English together. Our goal is to prepare preschoolers to start school and equip their parents to continue their learning at home outside the classroom.

Summer classes will start Tuesday June 19th and meet weekly from 4:30pm – 6:00pm at the Crossover Clinic at 8600 Quioccasin Rd, Richmond, VA 23229. We are looking for volunteers to help teach classes and donate books.
